Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Opps ("Opps," "we," "our," or "us") is a free-to-play, social sports-prediction game operated by Internet Friends Group, LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use the Opps mobile app and website at opps.world.

Opps is a game, not a gambling service. There is no real-money wagering, no cash payouts, and no purchase that affects your odds of winning anything of value. See section 6 for details.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account & authentication information: When you create an account, we collect your username and the identifier tied to your sign-in method. Opps supports Sign in with Apple, passwordless email sign-in links, and Google sign-in, so depending on your method this may include your email address and/or phone number. We also store an optional profile picture.
  • Your picks and takes:The YES/NO "takes" you make on the daily slate, your reactions to other people's takes, your win/loss record and streaks, and the leagues and sports you follow.
  • Friends and social graph: Friend connections, friend requests you send and receive, and pending invites you create for people not yet on Opps.
  • Contacts (optional, for finding friends): If you grant permission, we help you find friends already on Opps. Your contacts' phone numbers are normalized and hashed (SHA-256) on your device, and only those hashes are sent to our server to be matched against existing users. Raw phone numbers and contact photos never leave your device and are not stored on our servers.
  • Callout / "fade me" links: When you share a callout link to challenge people to tail or fade a take, the link encodes the take and your pick so recipients (including people without an Opps account) can react. Reactions made through these links are associated with your callout.
  • Usage and device data: Analytics about how you use the app, such as features used, screens viewed, and interactions, along with device and diagnostic information used for performance and crash reporting.
  • Push notification tokens: If you enable notifications, we store a push token so we can notify you about friend activity, friend requests, and game updates.
  • Purchase information: If you subscribe to Opps Pro, Apple processes your payment. We receive subscription status and confirmation but do not collect or store your payment card details.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To run the game: generate the daily slate, record your takes, score outcomes, and maintain your record, streaks, and leaderboard (Arena) standing
  • To power the social experience: friends, friend requests, the "Opps" reveal of who tailed or faded you, and shareable callouts
  • To help you find friends already on Opps and to deliver invites you choose to send
  • To manage your account and, if you subscribe, your subscription
  • To send push notifications about activity and game updates (with your permission)
  • To analyze usage, improve performance, and provide customer support
  • To protect Opps, enforce our Terms, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small set of third-party providers to operate Opps. Categories include:

  • Google Firebase — authentication, database (Firestore), cloud functions, file storage, push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging), and analytics/crash reporting
  • Apple — Sign in with Apple and in-app purchase/subscription billing for Opps Pro
  • Sports-data providers — third-party sports statistics and results services (for example, BallDontLie and SportsDataIO) used to build the slate and settle outcomes. We send game and player identifiers to these services, not your personal account information.

These providers process data only as needed to deliver their services and are bound by their own privacy policies.

5. How Your Activity Is Shared

Opps is social by design. Your username, profile picture, win/loss record, and the takes you make can be visible to other players, including your friends and within the Arena leaderboard. When friends tail or fade your takes, that activity appears in the "Opps" reveal.

Identities behind who tailed or faded you are hidden until unlocked with an Opps Pro subscription. Callout links you share are public links: anyone you send one to, including people without an Opps account, can open it and react.

6. Opps Is a Game, Not Gambling

Opps is a free-to-play social prediction game for entertainment. It does not accept, place, or facilitate real-money wagers, it does not pay cash or anything of monetary value, and no purchase (including Opps Pro) changes your odds of winning anything of value. The Opps Pro subscription unlocks social features such as seeing the identities behind your tails and fades; it does not buy game advantages or rewards of value.

7. Subscription Information

Opps Pro is billed at $4.99 per week and includes a 3-day free trial. Subscriptions auto-renew weekly unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings.

All payments are processed by Apple under their billing terms. We receive subscription status and confirmation receipts (including via Apple's App Store Server Notifications) but do not collect or store payment card data. Refunds are handled by Apple under their refund policy.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data, picks, record, and social connections for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our systems, though we may retain limited information where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, and anonymized or aggregated data that does not identify you may be retained.

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), on-device hashing of contact phone numbers, secure authentication, and access controls on our servers.

10. Your Rights and Choices

You can:

  • Access and update your profile information in the app
  • Delete your accountdirectly in the app at any time (Settings → Delete account), which removes your personal data as described in section 8
  • Opt out of push notifications
  • Revoke contacts permission at any time through your device settings
  • Contact us to exercise any data rights available to you under applicable law

11. Children's Privacy

Opps is rated 13+ and is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. Opps is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
